Myanmar’s National Waste Management Strategy and Master Plan is the Government’s first national initiative aimed at institutionalizing waste and as such offers a visionary document and strategic guide for addressing key issues, opportunities and challenges associated with achieving a resource-efficient and zero waste society. MONREC expresses its sincere gratitude to all public, private, academic and civil society stakeholders who participated in consultations at the township, regional/state and national levels, and provided valuable feedback during meetings and working group discussions. MONREC also wishes to thank all the 14 State and Region Development Affairs Committees, Yangon City Development Committee, Mandalay City Development Committee, Nay Pyi Taw Development Committee, and all other Township and City Development Committees that participated in the development of the National Waste Management Strategy and Master Plan, which greatly contributed towards ensuring the strategy remained practical, implementable and relevant to the country’s needs.
