The ASEAN Centre for Sustainable Development Studies and Dialogue (ACSDSD) recently welcomed representatives from the Stockholm Environment Institute (SEI) and the Global Green Growth Institute (GGGI) for a visit to the ASEAN Circular Economy Stakeholder Platform (ACESP) hosted by ACSDSD. The visit forms part of ongoing collaboration under the ASEAN–EU Green Team Europe Initiative (TEI) – Transition to a Regional Circular Economy in ASEAN project.

As a designated key partner of the ASEAN–EU TEI, ACSDSD plays a strategic role in advancing regional circular economy (CE) efforts through hosting and managing ACESP and organizing the ASEAN Circular Economy Forum (ACEF). These mechanisms serve as essential regional hubs for knowledge sharing, policy dialogue, stakeholder networking, and coordinated action across ASEAN Member States.

The visit served as an important step in strengthening regional collaboration to advance the circular economy across ASEAN. Discussions highlighted the shared commitment to fostering policy dialogue, enhancing knowledge exchange, and engaging diverse stakeholders to drive meaningful change. Through platforms such as ACESP and flagship events like the ASEAN Circular Economy Forum and thematic conferences, partners aim to connect ideas, best practices, and innovation across the region. The collaboration also emphasized the importance of promoting practical solutions, data-driven approaches, and strong partnerships to support the recovery and reintegration of secondary materials, alongside capacity building, advocacy, and on-the-ground engagement—particularly in Thailand—towards a more circular, resilient, and resource-efficient ASEAN.

Together with SEI, GGGI, the Danish Ministry of Foreign Affairs, ACSDSD, and other partners, the project seeks to accelerate ASEAN’s transition toward a circular, climate-neutral, and resource-efficient economy.

The visit reaffirmed the critical role of ACESP at ACSDSD as a regional platform that connects policymakers, researchers, private-sector actors, and civil society to support evidence-based policymaking and regional cooperation on circular-economy solutions.

About us:The ASEAN Circular Economy Stakeholder Platform (ACESP) is a regional facility helping ASEAN Member States (AMS) achieve sustainable consumption and production by accelerating the transition towards a circular economy.
