Editorial Policy
Criteria for Publication
This editorial policy paper discusses the type of circular economy content (knowledge) that the editorial team considers publishing directly on the portal (website). Using this guide and the following criteria will make approval and publishing quicker.
1. Circular Economy Related Events
Must include circularity and relevance to the circular economy
2. Good practices (GP)
Good practices are practical initiatives accompanied by circular objectives and measurable achievements.
2.1 GP initiative may demonstrate circularity by;
Direct Contribution
- Maintaining the value of resources throughout an ASEAN country’s production, consumption, and
disposal cycle. - improving material recyclability or using secondary raw materials;
- improving waste prevention and the collection and sorting of waste for further processing;
- extending product shelf life either through reuse, repair, maintenance, or refurbishment;
- encouraging more thoughtful use of resources by functional economy for the industry;
- introducing new ways of consumption and providing information to consumers;
- Improving resource and by-product flows and exchanges through industrial symbiosis.
- Provided added value for the implementation of the circular economy via innovative processes (industrial process, consumption model, waste sorting, resource-efficient business models, etc.).
- Encourage the achievement of a circular economy through new financing models or opportunities, e.g., by widening the use of green public procurement
Indirect Contribution (E.g., Behavioral change and educational contribution)
- Encouraging behavioral change in consumers, e.g., improving waste collection and sorting.
- Incentivizing circular consumption by sharing, reusing, and repairing products.
- Raising awareness of circular economy principles in educational contexts.
- Others
2.2 Measurable achievements of GP must be evidenced through:
- Concrete environmental or societal changes;
- reduced costs for businesses;
- new markets;
- Innovative processes are being facilitated.

2.3 Completeness and clarity of information
- The overall description should be clear and understandable and give a reasonable overview of relevance to circularity, process, means, and objectives.
- The description should focus on the process and not on the company performing the process.
- Complete information about the project, process, actors, and results.
- Quantifiable results or clear objectives
- All links to the original content must be guaranteed.
- Avoid promotional or commercial purposes without delivering useful information;
- Avoid content raising ethical concerns.
- Projects must be ongoing or completed to be eligible for publication.
3. Strategies are existing strategies and policies for the transition to a circular economy adopted at the local, national or regional by public authorities.
4. Publication is knowledge items that are research articles, studies, position papers, etc. They should be accessible free of charge.
5. Commitments are circular and measurable objectives to be achieved by a specific deadline
At the initial stage, this will be considered as one category of Good Practice
6. Financing initiatives should focus on funding circular economy projects.
At the initial stage, this will be considered as one category of Good Practice
7. Education and training initiatives should promote the circular economy.
At the initial stage, this will be considered as one category of events.
8. Networks/Platforms are associations representing a specific stakeholder category – industrial, geographical, civil society related, etc. – and furthering the circular economy.
At the initial stage, this will be considered as one category of Good Practice – once the partnership and collaboration with the existing CE network and platform in ASEAN have flourished, we will consider adding another section for the CE network and platform.
Submissions that do not fulfill the above criteria will either be sent back for modification or rejected.
