Cambodia: Long-Term Strategy for Carbon Neutrality (LTS4CN)

This LTS4CN effectively serves as a roadmap or vision document based on a thorough examination and modelling of all pertinent economic sectors and looks several decades into the future. To help the nation reach its 2050 goal of having a carbon-neutral economy, it lists the sector-specific priority mitigation initiatives. The plan provides a trajectory that is consistent with the Updated Nationally Determined Contribution and generally builds on the Royal Government’s already made commitments. The balance between emissions reductions, economic expansion, social fairness, and climate resilience is taken into account. According to economic analysis, the investments undertaken as part of this strategy might result in 449,000 new jobs and 2.8% more annual GDP growth for Cambodia by 2050. By continuing to address issues with forest sustainability and land use, decarbonizing our power sector, pursuing higher energy efficiency, and promoting low-carbon industrial operations, agricultural practices, and waste management, we can attain carbon neutrality by 2050.

The goals outlined in this document may be modified as necessary to reflect changing trends or unanticipated events. Updates will be made on a regular basis. While the precise goals and programmes of the Royal Government will continue to be outlined in our five-year national strategic development plans and equivalent sector plans, it gives a broad direction for policy.
