Zero Waste Laos

Type: Good Practices
Key Area: Waste management
Country: Laos

ZWL was initially established in 2019 as a volunteering group for promoting sustainable waste management through awareness campaigns via social media platforms in Vientiane, Lao PDR. ZWL’s first event was carried out in partnership with UNV on Mekong River Volunteering Action with more than 300 participants. ZWL organised the event with support from many development partners. ZWL is recognised as a youth-led organisation on environmental issues. Therefore, various sectors reach out to us for collaboration, mainly development partners, INGOs, NGOs, government, and private sectors, which are more than 20 partners who have cooperated with ZWL. ZWL assists many parts of the country in advancing their environmental and sustainable development goals through capacity-building, knowledge sharing, policy advice, and research in four thematic areas: Waste Management, Climate Change, Sustainability, Youth Development and gender.
